About Me
In 2016 I found myself at Southern Methodist University as a D1 rower. I started rowing my Junior year of high school and fell in love with the sport immediately. Going into my senior year of high school I was invited to Junior National Selection Camp in hopes of making the USA National team. It was an eye opening experience and one that I am so grateful I had. Unfortunately, had fractured my rib as I was trying to keep my weight as low as possible so my erg times were adjusted to be faster. I soon healed and had committed to row at SMU that fall.
My experience as a D1 athlete was different than most. I ended up refracting my rib and soon after dislocating my shoulder in the weight room. My stress was higher than it had ever been and my body felt beat up. I soon healed again and trained really hard that summer going into my sophomore year. The day after I got released to row again I had dislocated my shoulder AGAIN. This time it didn’t feel like I was going to make it. I cried a lot and struggled more than I ever had in my academics. My arm started to go numb and I could barely grab my oar handle. The end of my fall semester I was medically disqualified or retired as I like to call it. It felt like my identity had been taken away from me and everything that I ever enjoyed doing was gone.
I want to help athletes work through injury, create a positive mindset for their athletic and academic performance and encourage them during this hard, yet rewarding experience. I also am very passionate about fitness and nutrition. I want to pass along how I have changed my fitness routine and what I eat day to day. Follow along with me and be a part of a positive change in athletes.
